During the Society's first online meeting, the Italian luthier Lorenzo Bizzi reached out directly to the Society, expressing his interest in using the Society as a platform to recommend European performers and teachers for masterclasses and concerts in China.
Tong Chen has noted that masterclass pricing in China must take into account the capacity of the local market. In advancing such programs, the Society will need to balance artistic quality and international standards with realistic local uptake, seeking a sustainable equilibrium between aspiration and practicality.
Through accumulating experience, the Society hopes gradually to establish, within the Chinese-speaking context, greater agency in setting terms and prices for historically informed projects, thereby helping the Chinese early-music community occupy a healthier and more active position in the international arena.
