The Society shall be known as the "Historical Music and Instruments Society" (hmicn), a non-profit voluntary association formed by individuals and institutions engaged in or supporting the study of historical music, early-music performance, the making and restoration of historical instruments, and the education and dissemination of historical music.
The Society abides by the Constitution, the laws, regulations, and national policies of the People's Republic of China. It upholds the core socialist values, promotes patriotism, observes public morality, and conducts its activities lawfully. The Society shall not oppose the basic principles enshrined in the Constitution, endanger national unity, security, or ethnic solidarity, nor harm the lawful interests of the state, the public, or any other organization or citizen. It shall not act contrary to public morality.
The Society does not permit discussion of sensitive topics concerning race, religion, politics, or similar matters.
The Society's activities include: providing an information platform for the professional and scholarly community; aggregating performance listings; fostering exchange and collaboration among practitioners; promoting the making, restoration, preservation of historical instruments and research into related craftsmanship; supporting the curation, collection, study, publication, translation, digitization, and open sharing of historical sources and scores; and organizing masterclasses, workshops, and public lectures to broaden awareness of historical music and historically informed performance.
Membership is obtained either by invitation from the Society or by individual application. Invitees and applicants must hold citizenship of the People's Republic of China or valid long-term legal residency documentation in China.
Members of the Society enjoy voting rights and may participate in its activities with access to its services and resources.
Members shall abide by the Society's charter and observe the standards of academic integrity, performance ethics, and regulations concerning copyright and data.
The Society maintains a records management system and properly preserves its meeting bulletins, resolutions, financial records, member registers, and project materials.
The Society carries out information disclosure in accordance with law, providing appropriate transparency regarding its charter, organizational structure, leadership, annual reports, and key financial matters, and accepts oversight from members and regulatory authorities.
In operating its website, official accounts, databases, and other digital platforms, the Society observes the laws and regulations concerning cybersecurity, data security, and personal information protection. All externally published content shall be truthful, accurate, and respectful of historical sources.
The Society serves solely as a platform for the exchange of information and contacts regarding historical instruments and related resources, and does not intervene in specific sales, rentals, or other transaction details. All matters of pricing, shipping, quality, after-sales service, and disputes arising therefrom shall be borne by the parties to the transaction, and the Society assumes no responsibility. No individual or institution may make commercial commitments, quality guarantees, or assume liabilities on behalf of the Society without written authorization from the board.
On the basis of equality and mutual benefit, the Society pursues cooperation with universities, museums, theaters, research institutions, orchestras, instrument-maker communities, and related organizations both at home and abroad, fostering joint performances, collaborative research, exchange of materials, and the cultivation of talent.
Provided that it remains within the bounds of national security and ideological principles, the Society carries out international cooperation (including overseas donations and funding) and the invitation of foreign participants to China in accordance with the relevant national approval, filing, and financial management procedures.
